SAINT LAURENT MADE THE GOODBYE OFFICIAL

SAINT LAURENT MADE THE GOODBYE OFFICIAL. Saint Laurent and its parent company Kering "have officially confirmed the departure of Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello," Hypebeast reports. He took the job in 2016, succeeding Hedi Slimane. Kering's chief executive, Luca de Meo, thanked him: "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Anthony for his contribution to Saint Laurent." No successor is named. Kering says it will announce new creative leadership for the brand, and this desk does not guess who.

THE ROOM HAD IT BEFORE THE HOUSE DID. When this board carried that September show, it carried it as a rumour and said so. CNN wrote that the energy of the event "revved up further amid speculation that the show would be creative director Anthony Vaccarello's last after ten years at the house," and the entry here was marked stalled, with a limits note that read, in effect: speculation, not an announcement. That note was right for ten days and is now out of date, so the old entry leaves the front of the board and the confirmation replaces it. A dated call that Saint Laurent would announce a change of creative director before the end of 2026 is scored a hit in the ledger, with a caveat beside it: a departure is confirmed, and the successor is not.

IKEA OPENED A MARKET FOR ITS OWN USED FURNITURE. In a different part of the design business, the Irish Examiner reports that Ikea has launched a second-hand marketplace for its own furniture and homewares, "as it takes on the likes of eBay and Vinted." Members of the Ikea Family loyalty scheme can list home furnishing products — not mattresses, appliances or food — at prices "on average 60% lower than new items." The detail worth reading twice is the payout. Sellers can take cash, or an Ikea gift card "which will come with a 15% top-up." The buyer-protection fee is free at launch, and Ikea says it will be "clear and transparent when that changes". Its sustainability manager for the UK and Ireland, Greg Lucas, put the reason plainly: "The way people furnish their homes has changed." The paper reports Ikea will trial connecting its older Buy Back scheme to the marketplace in Spain and Portugal in late December.

A COURT PUT A PRICE ON PLAYS NOBODY HEARD. On Tuesday 6 October, in Manhattan federal court, US District Judge John G. Koeltl sentenced Michael Smith to 18 months in prison and ordered him to forfeit $8,091,843.64, Music Business Worldwide reports; prosecutors had asked for at least 46 months. Both sides described it as "the first criminal prosecution of its kind in the US." The numbers are the part that should stop anyone who buys attention. Prosecutors say as many as 10,000 bot accounts were active at points, playing hundreds of thousands of AI-generated songs. In April 2023, by MBW's account, Taylor Swift's entire catalogue drew 9.3 million family-plan streams on YouTube Music. Smith's bots streamed his tracks 80.9 million times in the same month.

PUT THE THREE TOGETHER AND THE DAY IS ABOUT WHAT A BRAND OWNS AFTER THE FIRST MOMENT. A fashion house has to carry its name through the gap between one designer and the next. A furniture retailer has decided that the second sale of its own products is a market it should run, rather than leave to resale sites. And a streaming fraud shows what happens when nobody checks what sits behind a count: a play is only worth something if a person made it. Three events are not a trend, and this desk does not claim one. What they share is a question every brand eventually meets — who controls what happens to the product, the name or the number once the first moment has passed.

IT CONNECTS TO THE REST OF THE BOARD. Chanel's designer called his Paris collection "not a historical collection" but one "about Gabrielle Chanel's layered stories": a house telling its founder's story on purpose. In Paris, the Pinault Collection hung 200 years of photography by theme rather than by date. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lee Krasner's name now comes before Jackson Pollock's. On 6 October, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery closed as one company under Skydance. Each is someone who holds a name, a catalogue or an archive deciding how it is carried forward, and under whose name.

WHAT THE LEDGER SAYS, AND WHY THE CAVEAT IS THERE. The Saint Laurent call was worded around an announced change of creative director. The house has announced that its creative director is leaving, which meets the wording. But a reader who saw only the word "hit" might assume a new designer had been named, and none has. So the ledger says both things beside the call, and a new dated call asks whether Kering names a successor by 31 March 2027. Two more new calls go in beside it: whether Ikea's Buy Back trial in Spain and Portugal happens as reported, and whether a second person is criminally charged in the US over automated streaming plays. Several older calls whose dates have passed are still unscored, because this desk found no evidence either way at source; they are counted in the back of this issue rather than quietly closed.

THE SO-WHAT, FOR THE BUDGET HOLDER. Three moves. First, if your brand depends on one creative leader, write down now what the brand says — and who says it — in the weeks between a departure and an appointment, because that gap is when the market decides what the name means without them. Second, if your product has a second life, someone is going to run that market; run it yourself, and make the payout in store credit the better deal for the seller, as Ikea's 15% top-up does. Third, if you buy on streams, followers or views, ask each partner what evidence it has that the audience is people, and tie payment to outcomes you can check, because, as the Smith case shows, one man's bots logged more than eight times the family-plan streams that Taylor Swift's whole catalogue drew on the same service in the same month.

What it means

Saint Laurent and Kering confirmed Vaccarello's exit with no successor named; Ikea opened a market for its own used furniture with a 15% store-credit bonus; the first US criminal streaming-fraud case ended in prison. Plan for the gap, run your own second market, and pay only on audiences you can check.

SAINT LAURENT MADE THE GOODBYE OFFICIAL

CRESTING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·design·DAY 1 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

SAINT LAURENT AND ITS PARENT KERING "HAVE OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED THE DEPARTURE OF CREATIVE DIRECTOR ANTHONY VACCARELLO", HYPEBEAST REPORTS. He took the job in 2016, succeeding Hedi Slimane. Kering's chief executive, Luca de Meo, is quoted: "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Anthony for his contribution to Saint Laurent."

THE CHAIR IS EMPTY FOR NOW. No successor is named. Kering says it will announce new creative leadership for the brand. At his September show in Paris, CNN reported speculation that it would be his last; the house has now confirmed that he is leaving.

THE READ1 para

A rumour that ran for weeks is now an announcement, and the house has now confirmed it. For a CMO or founder: the gap between a creative leader leaving and a successor arriving is when the brand speaks for itself. Decide now what your brand says, and who says it, in the weeks when nobody is named.

A COURT PUT A PRICE ON 80.9 MILLION PLAYS NOBODY HEARD

CRESTING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·music·DAY 1 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

MICHAEL SMITH WAS SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS IN PRISON BY US DISTRICT JUDGE JOHN G. KOELTL IN MANHATTAN FEDERAL COURT ON TUESDAY 6 OCTOBER, MUSIC BUSINESS WORLDWIDE REPORTS, and ordered to forfeit $8,091,843.64, "the loss figure agreed by both sides." Prosecutors had asked for at least 46 months. Both sides described the case as "the first criminal prosecution of its kind in the US."

AS REPORTED1 para

THE SCALE IS THE STORY. Prosecutors say as many as 10,000 bot accounts were active at points, playing hundreds of thousands of AI-generated songs. GOOGLE AND THE GOVERNMENT FILED ONE DOCUMENT AND DISAGREED IN BRACKETS

CRESTING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·technology·DAY 4 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

GOOGLE AND THE US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FILED THE NEXT PAPERWORK IN THE AD TECH ANTITRUST CASE AT 10:15 P.M. ON FRIDAY 2 OCTOBER, ADEXCHANGER REPORTS. It is one 41-page document, and "the DOJ's preferred language and Google's preferred language appear side by side in brackets throughout." In AdExchanger's words, ideally the two sides would have handed Judge Leonie Brinkema a clean document to sign, "but that didn't happen."

AS REPORTED1 para

THE BRACKETS ARE ABOUT TIMING AND ACCESS. AdExchanger reports the DOJ wants Google to connect its ad exchange, AdX, to the open-source auction system Prebid within six months of the order; Google wants twelve. Google wants up to 24 more months for remedies outside the US; the DOJ wants them global from day one. And the two disagree on when publishers get data — while they are still considering a switch, or only after they have made one.

THE READ1 para

The remedies for Google's display-advertising business are being written now, and the dates in brackets decide when its exchange opens to rivals. For a CMO or publisher: the gap between six months and twelve is a year of the current system. Plan buying and partner decisions for both dates, and ask your vendors which one their roadmap assumes.

A PRIVATE COLLECTION HUNG 200 YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHY OUT OF ORDER, ON PURPOSE

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·art·DAY 2 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

"REMEMBER ME", AT THE PINAULT COLLECTION'S BOURSE DE COMMERCE IN PARIS, PUTS ABOUT 700 WORKS BY MORE THAN 70 PHOTOGRAPHERS ON THE WALLS UNTIL 18 JANUARY 2027, ANOTHER REPORTS. AnOther describes it running from Gustave Le Gray's sepia seascapes of the late 1850s to Tyler Mitchell portraits shot as recently as 2024, with Irving Penn, Lee Miller and Richard Avedon among the photographers, in a show marking photography's bicentenary.

AS REPORTED1 para

THE CURATOR THREW OUT THE TIMELINE. AnOther quotes Matthieu Humery: "This celebration has been constructed like a fugue: a free-ranging, non-chronological stroll through all genres." In the rotunda, Barbara Kruger's installation uses "graphic text and video in her signature colour palette of black, red and white."

THE READ1 para

A private collection turned its holdings into a public argument about how to look at photography, and threw out the timeline to do it. For a founder or CMO with an archive: you don't have to show it in order. Pair old and new pieces by theme, and the archive starts to say something now.

TWO HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS NOW ANSWER TO ONE PARENT, AND IT STARTS WITH $80 BILLION OF DEBT

CRESTING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·film·DAY 3 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

THE MERGER OF PARAMOUNT SKYDANCE AND WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY CLOSED ON TUESDAY 6 OCTOBER, UPI REPORTS. The combined company is Skydance. Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders received $31.02 a share in cash, and UPI reports the new company starts with $80 billion in debt. Ynon Kreiz, formerly of Mattel, joins as co-chief executive alongside David Ellison, who is chair and chief executive.

AS REPORTED1 para

ON 6 OCTOBER, ELLISON CALLED THE CLOSE HISTORIC, "not just for Skydance but for our entire industry", UPI reports. He went on: "From the start, our ambition was to bring these two storied studios together and create a stronger competitor, with the talent, resources, and reach to tell great stories in every genre, on every platform, for audiences everywhere."

THE READ1 para

Two of the major film studios now sit under one parent, and that parent starts with a large debt to service. For a CMO or founder who licenses, partners with or advertises against these studios' work: the buyer you deal with has changed, and, in this desk's reading, a company carrying that debt is likely to look for savings. A TRANCE RECORD OPENS WITH TWO SKATEBOARDERS TALKING

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·music·DAY 3 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

LORENZO SENNI ANNOUNCED "ALL AGES", HIS FIRST ALBUM IN SIX YEARS, ON 6 OCTOBER. Stereogum reports it comes out on Warp on 20 November 2026, and that its first track, "Art Life & Skateboarding", has the skateboarders Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas delivering spoken passages over "an urgent, dramatic trance beat."

AS REPORTED1 para

THE PRODUCER EXPLAINED THE CASTING. Stereogum quotes Senni on why he chose the two: "They have opposite characteristics within something I love, skateboarding. It makes for a beautiful encounter." Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart appears later on the record.

THE READ1 para

An electronic producer opened his album with voices from a neighbouring scene, chosen, in his words, for their opposite characteristics. For a CMO casting a campaign: borrow voices from a scene your brand genuinely loves, and pick two who differ, as he did — in his words, the difference makes 'a beautiful encounter'.

CHANEL RETOLD ITS FOUNDER IN 83 LOOKS — AND SAID IT WAS NOT A HISTORICAL COLLECTION

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·design·DAY 4 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

MATTHIEU BLAZY SHOWED CHANEL'S SPRING 2027 COLLECTION AT THE GRAND PALAIS, A YEAR AFTER HIS DEBUT AT THE HOUSE. Marie Claire Australia counted 83 looks and described birds suspended above the runway, drawn from a southern Italian village where the designer spends his holidays, near a river visited by migrating birds. Nicole Kidman's voice read passages from Virginia Woolf on the soundtrack, which ended with Britney Spears.

AS REPORTED1 para

THE DESIGNER DREW THE LINE HIMSELF. The Zoe Report quotes Blazy: "This is not a historical collection; it's a collection about Gabrielle Chanel's layered stories." Marie Claire Australia reads the collection as moving through phases of the founder's life — Edwardian corsetry, her experiments with men's clothing, her suits — and lists smocked tweed developed to stretch and move with the wearer.

THE READ1 para

A heritage house used its founder's biography as a structure for new work, and its designer said in so many words that it was not a replica. For a founder or CMO with an origin story: tell the story in chapters and make something new for each one, instead of reissuing the original product.

PRIMAVERA SOUND OPENED ITS 2027 LINE-UP IN THREE DOORS

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·music·DAY 4 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

PRIMAVERA SOUND ANNOUNCED ITS 2027 LINE-UP ON 5 OCTOBER, EIGHT MONTHS BEFORE THE FESTIVAL. NME reports the festival runs 3 to 5 June 2027 at the Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, its 25th anniversary, with Doechii, Phoebe Bridgers and Fontaines D.C. at the top of the bill — and Turnstile, Massive Attack, the Chemical Brothers, FKA Twigs and Robyn among the names below them.

AS REPORTED1 para

THE TICKETS GO ON SALE IN STAGES. NME lists registration for a fan sale from 5 to 7 October, the fan sale itself on 8 October and general sale on 9 October. The announcement and the sale are the same week, and the people who say they want in first get in first.

THE READ1 para

A festival announced its line-up and opened a registration window the same day, so interest is captured before a single general ticket is sold. For a CMO launching anything with limited supply: open the registration window with the announcement, and give the people who raise their hand first an earlier door.

MIU MIU PUT THE GYM ON THE RUNWAY — WITH WRANGLER JEANS AND NEW BALANCE SHOES

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·design·DAY 5 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

MIU MIU SHOWED ITS SPRING 2027 COLLECTION, "HERE AND NOW", AT THE PALAIS D'IÉNA IN PARIS ON 4 OCTOBER, WITH OLIVIA COLMAN, EMMA CORRIN, IGBY RIGNEY AND GIGI HADID ON THE RUNWAY. W magazine's review lists sports bras, gym shorts and wool skirts, worked over with crystals and deliberate creasing.

AS REPORTED1 para

THE MATERIALS WERE NAMED BRANDS EVERYBODY KNOWS. The review describes jeans "created with vintage upcycled Wranglers" and New Balance sneakers from a collaboration reworking the brand's RC150 racing shoe. Miuccia Prada, quoted in the review: "It was the idea of being in the moment, in the time, and seeing everybody dressing in sportswear, and then I thought to lift up the sport; to bring elegance to the sport."

THE READ1 para

A luxury house took familiar mass-market products and transformed them: upcycled vintage Wrangler jeans and a reworked New Balance RC150 racing shoe. For a CMO: in this desk's reading, what a premium partner adds to a familiar product is the transformation, not the exposure. AT THE MET, KRASNER GETS TOP BILLING OVER POLLOCK — AND A CRITIC SAYS SHE EARNS IT

BUBBLING·SOURCES: JOURNALISM·art·DAY 6 ON THE BOARD·NO CLAIM FILED

"KRASNER AND POLLOCK: PAST CONTINUOUS" OPENS AT THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART ON 4 OCTOBER AND RUNS TO 31 JANUARY 2027, WITH MORE THAN 120 OBJECTS FROM OVER 80 LENDERS. Lee Krasner's name comes first.

AS REPORTED1 para

AN AMNY REVIEWER READ THE ORDER AS THE ARGUMENT. Pollock "remains every inch the revolutionary," the review says, but "Krasner gradually overtakes their shared mythology" — and her top billing "is therefore neither fashionable revisionism nor reparative politeness. She earns it gallery by gallery."

THE READ1 para

The Met put the partner long told second's name first, and a critic says the work justifies it. For a founder or CMO: credit order is a statement. If your brand was built by more than one person, the story of who did what is an asset — and correcting the record, when the work supports it, reads as conviction rather than politeness.

Signals this desk called live and then called over, with the dates of both readings. Nothing reaches this list by fading out: a stone requires a stage that actually changed in a published issue. Where no cause is given, none was written at the time — a cause of death composed now, for something that died in June, would be a story fitted to an outcome already known.

Gone quiet

112 SILENT

This is a fact about this publication, not about culture. These are stories the board carried at least 3 times and has not mentioned for 10 days or more. That happens when a story ends, when it moves somewhere this desk is not reading, and when attention simply drifted — and from here those look identical. The silence is recorded because it is real; what it means is not claimed. Showing the 10 most-covered of 112; the rest are in the archive.

Coverage

11 signals: 3 new, 8 carried, 2 retired. Culture leads; two entries concern legal process — an advertising-technology antitrust remedy and a criminal streaming-fraud sentence — and both run for what they mean for the people who buy, sell and make culture. Two entries left the front of the board: a fashion house's rumoured farewell, now replaced by its confirmation, and a British nightlife trade body's case to its Budget; both keep any dated calls in the ledger. One dated call resolved as a hit on its wording, with the caveat that no successor is named. Three new dated calls were added. An independent second reader reviews the lead and the new entries before publication. One publication was added to the source-tier list. No stage moves.

Thresholds & what binds them

Signals per issue
12
Twelve stories an issue. Known limit: this desk picks the twelve, and the count can be padded by splitting one story into two — which has happened. Whatever is cut is named in the coverage note of the issue that cut it, so the cap can never imply that twelve was all there was.
Days unchanged before reclassification
5
A story unchanged for five days is reclassified rather than carried on merit it no longer has. Known limit: for the first nine days this rule was cited as an operating default it was performed by hand and had never once fired, because nothing computed it. It is computed now.
Authenticity score, basis
editorial judgement, 0-100, not a measurement
Scores run 0-100 and are editorial judgement, not measurement. Known limit: the scale has never been calibrated against outcomes. A carried signal keeps its score unless its story moves, and there is no test anywhere establishing what a one-point difference between two signals means.
How often sources are read (hours)
4
Sources are READ every four hours, independently of publication, and the figure is taken from the scheduler that does the reading rather than typed here. Known limit: every coverage span quoted is an UPPER bound, because a stale timestamp can only make a window look wider than it really is — so the true picture can be worse than stated and never better. Known limit, second: coverage is measured by modelling how long a source's window is against how often it is read. That model can only tell you loss is POSSIBLE. Actual loss is observed by comparing consecutive readings, and that comparison is blind for any interval whose baseline is missing. Known limit, third: the modelled losses on the fastest trade feeds have been independently confirmed by the loss detector on more than one occasion, so the model's warning about those feeds is corroborated by observation rather than merely predicted. Whether any GIVEN issue lost anything is not stated here — it is read off the gap log for that issue, because a standing note cannot describe a particular day without being wrong on all the others. A four-hourly read is not sufficient for a feed whose entire visible window is under four hours.
How often an issue is published (hours)
24
One issue a day. Known limit: reading and publishing are different clocks and only the reading one determines what gets missed. This desk stated the wrong one of the two in public and corrected it, and then shipped an issue whose numbers used the right clock while its sentences still named the wrong one. Both are now derived from the scheduler so the prose cannot drift from the arithmetic again.

Provenance

HOW TO READ THIS BOARD. Every source is checked twice before publication: once that the link actually resolves, and once that the KIND of source claimed matches the publication it really came from. The second check is automatic, decided in one central list rather than story by story, and it refuses to publish the issue if a source has been overstated or a publication cited that the list has never seen.

WHAT THAT CHECK DOES NOT DO: it does not make provenance verified. It moves the claim from this desk's judgement on each story to one reviewable list that is able to disagree. That is a smaller thing than 'verified' and it is better to say so than to let the word do work it has not earned.

AND THE CHECK'S OWN RECORD, since it is the thing asking you to trust the rest: it was announced as working on 15 August and it was not. It had run once, in a temporary workspace, and vanished with it — while this very note told readers for five days that it guarded every issue. It was rebuilt on 20 August and has refused to publish on several separate occasions since, which is the only evidence worth offering that it does anything.

AND THE LIST IS EXTENDED WHENEVER A NEW PUBLICATION IS CITED, which matters because an extendable list is only as strong as the discipline of extending it. Every addition is dated in the list itself, so its growth is inspectable rather than invisible. The standing rule that does the work: a story can be no stronger than its WEAKEST source, so citing a primary document alongside a weak one does not lift the story — it exposes the weak one. Which publications were added in any given issue, and which stories that forced to be retyped, is recorded in that issue's coverage note rather than here, because this passage is carried between issues and a count of additions would be false the moment it was reread.

Held over, not dropped quietly4 STORIES

This board drops rather than downgrades. Today's third drop is a count of its own unfinished scoring, printed so a reader can see it.

  1. A video game's in-game radio stations and their celebrity hostsNOT RUN. Widely covered; this board took a different lead.
  2. Who will succeed at Saint LaurentNOT PRINTED. No successor is named, and this desk does not guess.
  3. 9 dated calls whose dates have passedSTILL UNSCORED. No evidence found either way at source; counted, not closed.
  4. Real-time social-feed signal, forty-fifth consecutive dayUpstream feed unavailable again. Stated rather than absorbed.

The spatial read

Some stories are carried by the building they happen in. Where the built environment IS the story — or gives it away — this board reads it: what the place is actually for, whether it belongs where it stands, and what it is quietly becoming.

A spatial read requires a REAL, DATED, SOURCED place — a specific building, development, lease or closure. Spatial intelligence, not spatial atmosphere. If it cannot be sourced to a place that exists, it does not run.

A reading applied ACROSS the three lenses, never a fourth door in the nav.

🔴 EIGHTY-SIX STALE SENTENCES ACROSS ELEVEN ISSUES. A signal written on 8 September said 'IN THREE DAYS' about an 11 September deadline and was carried unchanged into the 9 September issue, where the answer was two. A sweep of all 64 issues then found 86 rotted relative-time phrases across 11 of 63 transitions and 27 distinct signals — one entry said 'yesterday' for four consecutive days. Every gate passed all of them correctly: nothing was false or self-contradictory, the sentences were merely OLD, and no instrument here was looking for age. A freshness gate now compares each issue against the previous one, refuses carried prose dated to a day that has passed, and runs inside the publishing step so it cannot be skipped. Verified by pointing it at the 9 September issue, which it refuses.

🔴 THE REACTOR PATTERN WAS UNDERCOUNTED. On 10 September this board said two existing-reactor compute contracts in two days were not yet a trend and to watch for a third. Two earlier agreements of the identical shape existed — the Clinton plant in Illinois (3 June 2025) and operating plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania (9 January 2026). The pattern was counted from this board's own coverage instead of from the record. The entry is rewritten and the claim withdrawn.

🔴 A STALE STATE CLAIM RAN FOR TWO ISSUES. On 9 and 10 September the transfer-agent entry said Federal Register publication had not been confirmed, so no comment deadline was given. It had been published on 4 September. The staleness check added on 10 September catches relative time and could not see this, because the sentence contained no time word. Carried prose was swept by hand for state claims in this issue; the deadline — 3 November 2026 — is now stated.

🔴 A PRIZE INSTITUTE'S STATEMENT WAS REPORTED AS ABSENT. On 11 September the Navier–Stokes entry said no statement from the Clay Mathematics Institute on the claim had been found. Its president, Martin Bridson, had told a news agency on 9 September that evaluation would be "deliberately unhurried" and "absolutely rigorous". The sentence was wrong when printed. It is replaced with his words, and the entry states that they describe a process, not a ruling.

🔴 A SECOND MAJOR LABEL HAD ALREADY SIGNED. From 27 August this board said no second major label had followed Universal in licensing fan creation with AI, filed a dated call on it, and on 12 September wrote that the reports read named no other major label doing the same. Warner Music Group signed a licensed agreement with Suno on 25 November 2025 letting users create and remix music from opted-in artists; the licensed models launched on 9 September 2026. The claim was false when printed. The call is scored missed as void on filing, and the entry is corrected.

🔴 A CONFLICT OF INTEREST WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT FIRST PUBLICATION. This issue first went out without saying that PlaylistSupply, the firm behind the playlist analysis it reports, sells a $19.99-a-month tool for finding, vetting and pitching playlists — the very course of action the entry recommended. The figures are unchanged; the entry, its limits and the lead now state the interest.

What is behind each door

WHAT IS BEHIND EACH DOOR. A signal count on its own is ambiguous in the worst direction: a lens showing two stories reads as though nobody looked. So every lens carries the state of the instruments behind it. COVERED means the four-hourly read sees that source's whole window before anything can roll out of it. LOSSY means the window is shorter than the gap between reads, so items provably publish and disappear unseen. SAMPLED means the read catches only a minority of what publishes, and a sampled source is never described as coverage.

READING IS SEPARATE FROM PUBLISHING. Sources are read every four hours; the issue is written once a day. Those are different clocks and only the reading one determines what gets missed — a distinction this desk got wrong in public and corrected, which is recorded above.

Every span measured is an UPPER bound: a stale timestamp can only make a window look wider than it is. So the true picture can be worse than stated and never better.

Imagery

NO PHOTOGRAPHS IN THIS ISSUE, DELIBERATELY. Imagery was built and tested for this design — each picture the lead photograph published by the same article the story cites, credited to that publisher — and it is held back until the rights to reproduce it are secured. A publication that asks readers to check its sources should not run photographs it has no licence for. The pictures return when the licensing does, and not before.
